COLUMBUS, Ohio – (Dec. 21, 2017) The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness announced today that it has received a $10,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to help support its HealthyEyes Program: Removing Barriers to Education and Job Success. The grant will be used to provide sight-saving services for high-risk individuals in Central Ohio, particularly in the Franklinton area, before they lose their vision.
“We are grateful to the PNC Foundation for their partnership in helping us protect the precious gift of sight by providing services that help individuals adopt healthy habits in regard to eye care and eye safety,” said Sherry Williams, president and chief executive officer of the Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness.
The ultimate goal of the HealthyEyes Program is to increase academic, job success and elder independence by reducing the incidence of unnecessary vision loss and impairment by providing education, vision screening and access to our voluntary system of vision care services for high-risk, medically disadvantaged children, youth, families and seniors. Early detection and treatment have a positive effect on independence, productive learning and employment.
Prevent Blindness is the state’s leading volunteer nonprofit public health organization dedicated to prevent blindness and preserve sight. It provides direct services to more than one million Ohioans and educates consumers about what they can do to protect and preserve their sight.
