1987 Preschool Vision Screening Ambassador – Laura Brauer

Prevent Blindness Wisconsin’s first Preschool Vision Screening Ambassador, Laura Brauer, was diagnosed with amblyopia after a referral from a Prevent Blindness Wisconsin vision screening. During her time as ambassador, Laura was given the honor of presenting Moola, the Milwaukee County Zoo’s Asian elephant, the “Most Beautiful (Animal’s) Eyes Award.” Laura attended UW-Madison for her undergrad with a B.S. in biology and German. She then continued her education at Santa Clara University School of Law where she received her juris doctorate. Laura currently works for the State of Wisconsin and lives in Madison. Laura and her parents have stayed in touch for 30 years and Laura continues to help with advocacy efforts including “Eyes on Capitol Hill.”
