Prevent Blindness Wisconsin Partners with Wisconsin Vision to Advocate Sports Eye Safety on TMJ4 News at Noon

As September kicks off the school sports season for thousands of children and young adults, ER and eye care professionals unfortunately expect an increase in sports related eye injuries as part of their game plans.  Every year, more than 40,000 athletes suffer an eye injury while playing sports.  Yet 90 percent of eye injuries can be prevented!

As part of September’s Sports Eye Safety Awareness Month, Prevent Blindness Wisconsin and Wisconsin Vision have teamed up to help educate parents and coaches about the need to make eye protection part of the uniform. And, to reassure athletes, coaches and fans that eye protection does not affect athletic performance.
